Component cleaning and surface finishing
Professional vapour blasting in the West Midlands
MB Developments provides wet vapour blasting for suitable automotive and engineering components from our Darlaston workshop. The process combines water and fine abrasive media to remove carbon deposits, oxidation and surface contamination while producing a clean, even finish.
Suitable work
What can be vapour blasted?
The process can be used on many aluminium, bronze, magnesium, titanium, brass, copper, steel and stainless-steel components. Suitability depends on the material, condition, coatings and the finish required, so please send photographs or contact us before travelling if you are unsure.
Automotive components
Engine casings, brackets and other removable metal parts can often be cleaned and refinished, subject to inspection.
Oxidation and deposits
Vapour blasting can remove oxidation, carbon and surface contamination without relying on aggressive dry blasting.
Consistent finish
The wet process leaves a clean, even surface that is well suited to restoration and careful component preparation.
Before the work begins
Preparing your components
Correct preparation helps us work safely and gives the best opportunity for a consistent finish.
- Clean and drainItems should arrive free from oil, grease and fuel. Paint, powder coating and other heavy coatings should be removed first.
- Remove sensitive partsRemove electrical items before delivery. Seals and bushes can sometimes remain, but they may prevent complete cleaning in covered areas.
- Inspect and confirmWe inspect the component, discuss the required finish and confirm whether vapour blasting is appropriate before work starts.
Practical details
Capacity, collection and aftercare
Our cabinet can accept suitable items up to approximately 860 mm high, 680 mm deep and 930 mm wide, with a maximum weight of 50 kg. A while-you-wait service may be possible for smaller jobs, depending on the component and current workload, but it must be agreed in advance.
After collection, the customer is responsible for thoroughly cleaning the component and removing any remaining media, particularly from internal areas, oilways and galleries, before the part is assembled or returned to service.
Not sure whether your part is suitable? Send clear photographs and measurements when you contact MB Developments.
