The rolling road allows boost, fuelling, ignition, temperatures and power delivery to be observed while the car is tested through its operating range. The goal is a safe, usable calibration with the response and drivability appropriate to the specification—not simply the highest number on a graph.
Where a vehicle needs workshop work or supporting upgrades first, those issues can be addressed within the same facility before tuning continues.
